Tom Murray
Award-winning playwright and dramaturg.
About me…
Howdy! I’m Tom!
I’m a 24 year old playwright and dramaturg from the village of Linton in Cambridgeshire and the current Peter Shaffer Playwright in Residence at Trinity College, Cambridge.
I graduated from Durham University in 2021 with a degree in History before doing an MA in Dramaturgy and Writing for Performance at Goldsmiths in 2022.
I’m interested in rurality, the socio-political, and the way the past speaks to the present. My work is characterised by themes of interconnectivity, of shared complicity, and mutual plight. I strive for theatre that fosters empathy – whilst challenging complacent narratives.

My work has been performed at Soho Theatre, Mercury Theatre, Norwich Theatre Royal, Cambridge Junction, Theatre503 and beyond…
